In the book, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, Phineas plays out to be a glorious and dramatic character. He is known for his unrelenting athleticism, unforgettable humbleness, and his ability to move on in tragic times. He is a character of an unmatched caliber. First off, Phineas plays the role of an unrelenting athletic person. One example of this is when Phineas breaks the Devon School swim record. “My gosh! So I really did it… I could here myself going just a bit faster than A. Hopkins Parker” (917).
