The two protection measures I would recommend are: · Secure Socket Layer (SSL) SSL is a protocol that controls the communication between the SSL server and the browser. The meaning of the term secured socket is that SSL uses a secure socket to transfer encrypted information between the server and the browser. SSL is a security protocol designed by Netscape to provide security during the transmission of sensitive data over TCP/IP. The SSL security protocol provides data encryption, server authentication, message integrity, and optional client authentication. SSL uses a public key encryption mechanism to implement secured transmission. Public key encryption is a technique that uses a pair of symmetric keys for encryption and decryption. The public key is widely distributed, but the symmetric keys, data that are encrypted using the private key is kept by message originator, without any public disclosure. Because of the symmetric keys, data that ere encrypted using the private key can only be decrypted using the corresponding public key. Conversely, data that are encrypted using the public key can only be decrypted using the corresponding private key. The use of SSL involves some overhead cost. It s use only increases the amount of data transmitted; it also created more packets, slowing down the transmission of information between the server and browser.
