In this essay I will be describing the short term and long term effects of marijuana, cocaine, alcohol, and tobacco. These drugs affect adolescents in a number of ways. These illegal substances and damaging products are extremely un-healthy to the people who abuse them, and sometimes to the people who are around them. There are many long and short term effects of the drug called marijuana. One short term effect is that the user of the drug has problems with their memory and learning. Also, the distortion in perception, such as sight, sounds, time, and touch is greatly effected. The user's senses begin to feel numb once they have taken the drug. Trouble with thinking and problem solving is also a short term effect of marijuana. The long term effects of this illegal substance are extremely damaging to the person who uses them. A long term effect of marijuana is that by taking the drug, it is said that it may play a role in some kinds of cancer and in problems with the respiratory and immune systems.
