In selecting images to include in your essays you have previously been restricted to using paper-based resources, e.g. photocopying images from books in the library. Using web-based resources, e.g. digitised library collections, both increases the range of material available and allows you to by-pass the photocopying process by electronically 'inserting' the images you have found into your word-processed work. Very simply then, whether you are using the paper-based or the web-based approach to inserting images into your essays there are essentially three steps to take:- 1. selecting an image:- i.e. searching the library shelves / searching the web. 2. making a selected image available for use:- i.e. photocopying a page from a book / downloading an image to your computer.
