Progressing in Life Your teachers had always told you not to lean back in your chair, But as that plastic chair falls back, And you lay on the floor, A harsh reality fills your mind, And you take a glance at your surroundings. Kodak and Polaroid films litter a marred and chipped wall. You recognize the person in most of them, As it appears to be you. A fading blast of music drones in the background. It registers in your mind as a favorite, But you are unsure why. You stand and stare with a blank look. A laptop computer – Surrounded by an entourage of papers and spiral notebooks – Displays what appears as an unfinished report.
