Some argue that there has been a Paradigm Shift from Industrial to Information Organisations. ...
Introduction
This essay involves the argument that there has been a paradigm shift from industrial to information organisations. ... The human history tells us how we emerged from the primitive way of life to becoming a slave, then to feudalism (Canterberry 1995: 17). As Stonier (1983:190) has said, our “societies have changed, evolved, with time from the hunter gatherers, agricultural to industrial, to our information-oriented, post-industrial society”. ...
The Paradigm Shift
Has there really been a paradigm shift? A question that most of us students will have to know and decipher what really a paradigm shift is. To understand it better, we look close enough in the past experiences of our society, we will notice a new society has transpired when there is transformation in its structure and this development is correlated with the change in production output, power and new experience that lead to modification of social forms of space and time and manifestation of a new culture (Castells, 1998: 340). ...
It is far from clear, however, whether we are indeed witnessing the development of a truly ‘New Economy’ as the outgrowth of a changed global techno-economic paradigm or whether these changes are simply advancements within the existing ‘technological style’ (Review of International Political Economy 9:1 March 2002: 150–182)
Different groups see things where paradigms are concerned, but we live in a world where everything in the system is ecologically interdependent, a change in its part is a change in its entirety.
