Feudalism had a significant impact on Western Europe. All aspects of life including social structure, politics, and economics, were effected by feudalism. This new political and military system came about when the Carolingian world was in a state of disorder. The fall of central government in the Carolingian world, and foreign invasion, led to the emergence of feudalism. When Carolingian showed signs of vulnerability it was invaded by many outside groups seeking to gain authority over Western Europe. Some included the Muslims, Magyars, and the Vikings. The invasions were so continuous that it came to a point where the government could no longer defend its subjects.
