The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield In “The Garden Party” Katherine Mansfield describes the life of a wealthy, upper class family who live in England. She paints a very alive, romantic picture about their life. But I think that is not the main idea that she wants to deliver to the readers, her main idea is exploring Laura’s internal struggles. Laura is the youngest daughter of this wealthy family, and also the main character of this story. Through the story I do not know exactly her age, but I think she is at the age of changing from childhood to adolescence. Most of the story Mansfield is showing the readers what are happening in Laura, and the contrast of the ideas about death in her family member.
