During the first world war, all soldiers in the front suffered severly. The battle and living conditions were digusting. The soldiers in the front lived in trenches and they would often live in taht same trench for months. Most of the times there were cycles of different units, so you would be able to go to the front on a rotatiing basis.The trenches the soldiers lived in were simply large holes dug in the ground. When it owuld rain, the trenches would absorb some water, but thsi still caused the soldiers to get wer, cold, and sick.
