Capital Punishment, by definition, is the execution of a person found guilty of murder. Average citizens are now becoming more aware that capital punishment, if correctly implemented, could be a solution to many of today’s most pressing criminal problems. Capital punishment is our moral responsibility to assure that murderers will not murder again. Some would argue that capital punishment does not allow for the rehabilitation of members of society such as those who are mentally ill, but it does allow for there to be retribution for victim’s families and for society. Capital punishment is the only way to ensure that criminals are no longer threats to society. ... The Courts’ decision would impact on any pending cases and all future cases for mentally ill persons who are guilty of Capital crimes. ... The basis of punishment is to make a person pay for the crime they commit.
