Educating About Race Although all races are treated equal and have the same legal rights in today’s society, racism remains just around the corner of every street. We are all different individuals in this world, but we are all classified with a race or ethnic background. Why does racism remain such a problem in today’s society? Haven’t we learned that racism could only bring problems but benefits no one? This paper examines the issue of racism through the growing bigotries of the younger generation, drug sentences, and home education. A disturbing fact about racism in the United States was revealed after reading one of Richard Cohen’s articles, “Our Children Are Our Future – Unfortunately They’re Bigots.” A recent survey was conducted for the Anti-Defamation League. “The ADL found a disturbing symmetry: Older and younger white Americans share the same biases.” Cohen points out the state of race relations in the U.S.
