Being overweight is a very controversial issue. Although it is a common but very complex thought to ponder upon, many are not aware of the fact that they are being treated with no justice or respect. In the article, “Sizism – One of the Last “Safe” Prejudices,” the author, Sally Smith, carefully conveyed how people of bigger size are being blamed for being that way and that they cannot lose weight. Smith gave proof showing ways of how heavy people were being discriminated against but what she was not capable of was arguing about how over weight people cannot lose weight. ... In this case, Smith implied that being over weight is something that cannot be changed. ... A very well known tradition in Fuji is being over weight among the females. This might have been a social norm in the culture of the Fuji but not acceptable to others. ... This being the case, Smith gave a poor argument. ...
The third argument that Smith used was that $33 billion came from the well being of over weight people. ...
To support Smith’s stand on how heavy people are being discriminated against, she compared overweight people to the handicapped.
