What is Education? Ideal/Personal view. An ideal educational system would involve a more creative based curriculum. By that I mean students should be directed to interpret things rather than regurgitate fact. The facts should be used as a foundation, as a means to an end. For example, in teaching about the civil war, the historical facts are useful. But the real lessons come from the social implications it had on the country. How it has affected us as Americans to present day. There are a myriad of educational lessons that be discussed rather than just naming dates and battles. I have known many students who have tested well, did well on standardized tests and maintained high GPA’s, but were incapable of their own interpretation. I think the ability to analyze, and to deconstruct thoughts and ideas are more important than just facts and datelines of an event.
