Sumerians- The Sumerians created cuneiform, which was the earliest form of writing. They contributed a lot to the civilizations to come. Things such as: the arch, wheel, division of the circle into 360 degrees, and the division of hours and minutes into 60 units. They also created ziggurats, which were temple towers. The Sumerians were polytheistic. Sumerians did not have political unity. They were divided into twelve independent city-states. * Acts 7:2- To this he replied: "Brothers and fathers, listen to me! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was still in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran." * Acts 7:2- "Leave your country and your people," God said, "and go to the land I will show you." Amorites- The Epic of Gilgamesh is attributed too the work of the Amorites. This is their account of the Universal Flood. Other accomplishments of the Amorites are astronomy and astrology. They did not worship a true god. Their political unit was there king, Hammurabi, who established laws similar to Moses'. * Deuteronomy 1:20- Then I said to you, "You have reached the hill country of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is giving us." * 1 Kings 4:19- Geber son of Uri - in Gilead (the country of Sihon kind of the Amorites and they country of Og king of Bashan). He was the only governor over the district. * 2 Chronicles 8:7- All the people left from the Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites (these people were not Israelites). * Psalms 135:11- Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan and all the kings of Canaan. Egyptians- The Egyptians had many accomplishments such as: Increased knowledge of anatomy, prescribed drugs as remedies for diseases, solar calendar (365 days), hieroglyphics, paper from papyrus plant, irrigation, and built upon knowledge of geometry and astronomy to build pyramids.
