The automotive industry in Germany is well established and well known. Many of the country’s automakers enjoy a certain prestige throughout the world. These companies have deep roots within the country of which its people are very proud. This is true of one company in particular, Daimler-Benz. This company is one of Germany’s most admired brand names. The person behind the wheel of this company is Jurgen Schrempp. By becoming the CEO, he has become quite popular and well respected among Germans. Mr. Schrempp was raised in Freiburg, a town in Southwest Germany. One of his passions as a child was skiing. In fact, due to his frequent ski sessions (in addition to other fun activities), he did not finish high school. Since he was not very interested in his studies, his father convinced him to learn a trade. As a result, at age 15 Mr. Schremp joined Daimler as an apprentice mechanic. There, he learned the actual mechanics of an automobile. At age 18, he met his wife, Renate, who was 19 at the time.
