Bead on an Anthill Review Many people in this day and age take a lot for granted. We don’t realize how easy life is and how important things like family are to us. One person who does understand is Delphine Red Shirt. Delphine knows how important family and culture is to a person’s way of life. If we could all look at life the way Delphine looks at it we may all appreciate life a little more and lead a much happier life. To put it in Anglo terms Love Thy Family. Going through this book the first thing I realized is how important family is to Delphine. The book is filled with descriptions of family and how each member has treated her and had an effect on her. She describes her mother as someone who takes care of the family and keeps the Lakota ways.
