Jake Varnis Government and Economics October 8, 2003 Senator Research Paper Biographical Sketch- Bob Graham is the State Senator of Florida. He was born November 9, 1936 in Dade County, Florida and is the youngest of four children. Graham is the son of Ernest Graham, a Florida state senator, mining engineer, and dairy cattleman, and Hilda Simmons Graham, who was a schoolteacher. He married Adele Khoury in 1959 and they have four daughters: Gwen, Cissy, Suzanne and Kendall. He began his political career as a Florida State Representative in 1966 and was reelected in 1968. He became a member of Florida’s Senate in 1998. He is recognized for providing strong leadership in the state of Florida. Political Ideology-Political ideology is the kind of political views that a politician has on certain issues. There are conservatives, populist, liberals and libertarians. The two most popular are conservatives and liberals. Conservatives tend to be against taxing, spending, welfare, healthcare, education and pro-choice. And they favor the death penalty. Conservatives order 1) order 2) freedom and 3) equality.
