There are some white men who give their lives to build up what is broken.” p25 a) In what way has the white man been responsible for breaking the tribe to suit himself? b) Mention three white men described in Cry the Beloved Country who dedicate their lives to build up what is broken and describe how they attempt to do this. Throughout the novel, Cry the Beloved Country, the reader discovers how white mans’ social and economic systems have been forced upon tribes thus destroying them. This is shown mainly through the lives of black people living in Johannesburg.
