The story starts out with a child by the name of Tyrone. Tyrone is growing up in the ghetto of Detroit. All of his life Tyrone has grown up with disadvantages or as someone would call it the “short end of the stick”. Tyrone lives with his mother who is an assistant manager at McDonalds. His mother has always tried to give Tyrone the best a mother could. When Tyrone was just fifteen years old his father left him and his mother for another woman. From there on Tyrone’s luck changed for the worse. Tyrone just felt like the odds were against him in a bad way. He wondered if his daddy did not love him. Betrayal was the feeling that Tyrone got when he thought about his father. When he first started grade school his teachers always seem to treat Tyrone as a special child and did not want him to fail. It might have been that they felt sorry for him knowing that he was underprivileged. His English teacher took a liking to him.
