“Dead Poets Society” In the movie “Dead Poets Society” many characters are affected by “Transcendentalism” and “Carpe Diem” or seize the day. Each of the characters learn first-hand about non-conformity and being different. Each character takes different actions about what they feel they can do by “seizing the day” and break away from what they feel is wrong to them. Their teacher, Mr. Keating, emphasizes to them that Transcendentalism makes their lives better and make them unlike society then. There are many things in particular that affect Charlie Dalton. Charlie was always a person who would speak his mind. He’s someone who is always being sarcastic about everything. Since the beginning of the story he’s always been in control of everything .
