Abstract
In this paper we will be discussing some of the many different areas of team. We
will be discussing the different characteristics of a team and what a team is, the different
kinds of teams that can be formed, are teams a better way to get a project done versus an
individual, and how are members of a team selected and why for that particular team.
Teams: what they are and how they work
A team is a group of individuals that are goal-oriented and that agree on a process
for success. Team are unique, but no two people work exactly alike, that is why a team
must agree on the process and understanding their role inside of that team. The team will
function interdependently; every member’s role and work will complement everyone
else’s and the members’ process hinges on the input and help from the other members.
Teams are based on valuing and using the skills, knowledge, abilities and perspective of
the other team members. ... I believe that some of the characteristics are that the teams roles
are specific and defined, but are connected to each other as well, and that we have to
recognize that not all the roles of a team are filled at any given time, and that we need to
respect and value the function and purpose of each of the team members. I believe that
there are three elements that separate a group and a team: The Mission, which is that in
order to be an effective team you must have a present and clear mission or purpose.
