The townspeople appear to be terrified of the Blair Witch, and one lady even claims she never goes near her area. ... Some of the scenes are shot while the actors are holding the camera and running from the “witch,” so the camera is moving in all directions, which makes it difficult to follow. ... In addition to the idea of showing interviews with Burkittsville’s citizens, the amateur filming technique was also a fine effort by Myrick and Sanchez to persuade the audience into thinking this was raw footage of three teenagers investigating the Blair Witch.
