The Revolutionary War occurred in a time when many of the colonists of America were lacking happiness with the British Parliament. Some raise the question of whether or not America was justified in waging war and breaking away from Britain. Although the English did hold the belief that America as not at all justified, they failed to have any true evidence backing up their argument. American colonists, however, believed that they were in the war for the right reasons and had solid proof of this. In fact, when one analyzes the different sides of the argument, the conclusion can be made that America was by far justified in waging war and breaking away from Britain. About one-third of American colonists were loyalists, yet these people, along with men in Britain, had little evidence to support the country that they were so faithful to. One of their main arguments, one written about by Thomas Whately, was that Americans should be thankful to have England.
