I was only twelve years old. At that age everything seemed to be life changing from the friends that you had to what you wore to school. However, in my case an event that took place when I was twelve actually did change my life. I was in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire on summer vacation. My father asked to talk with me about soccer in the car while all of the rest of my family went into the hotel room. I assumed it was about my club soccer team I played for called the Kics. Two weeks earlier we had tryouts. I wasn’t worried because after all it was my forth year playing and I assumed I wouldn’t be cut from the team. However, that all changed when my father uttered the words I dreaded hearing, “Lauren, Mr. Newbitt called and he said he is cutting you from the team.” At first I was shocked, then I realized there had to be a rational explanation.
