Since July 1999, QSC’s production capacity has tripled. They increased their capacity by the use of conveyors, carousels, radio frequency identification (RFID), and bar code systems. Though these tools seem relatively simple, QSC has revolutionized their manufacturing process. QSC built a new assembly line in a 41,000 sq ft expansion to their main plant. Their new assembly line is a build to order operation compared to the old system, which was build to stock. This demand-pull operation allowed work in process to be drastically reduced.
