The novel Lord of the Flies discusses the experience and change from civilization to savagery. ... There was also Ralph whom everyone liked. Ralph was very good looking, with the aspects of a boxer, and had a kind and gentle personality. Because of this Ralph was elected the leader of the boys. As the story continues Ralph changes from a self-assured boy, whose confidence in himself came from the acceptance of his peers, to someone who becomes more of a savage and has to fend for himself.
At the beginning of the novel Ralph seems to be more of a “take charge” and rational kind of person who seems like a good leader. “Ralph smiled and held up the conch for silence. ... Also, Ralph had many ideas on what they should do until they get rescued. ...
As the novel continues Ralph starts to lose his authority. ... Whereas, on the other hand, Ralph and Piggy just want to be rescued and that is all that they can think about.
