Taking a close look at different maps, one will find that the borders of countries vary, not only because of the different years they were issued, but also will maps look different, depending on the country that publicized them. Measurements and sizes of countries vary just as borders appear to be set differently. Maps are generally considered to be reliable sources, but how can we rely on a source if it is disproved by a different source, just as reliable? ...
The interpretation of a country is one factor that might lead to false measurements and boundaries as seen in Moroccan maps which insisted on omitting the boundary between Morocco and the Sahara, which was indeed part of Spain. But also are maps biased, and show either wrong distances or sizes, simply because of the world being round, and maps being flat. ... The point of view and ideas of a people are reflected in the maps they draw.
The last example I am going to look at is the use of maps during wartime.
