FADE IN EXT. LONDON – NIGHT The year is 1888 A.D. We find ourselves looking into the wet wick lit light on the corner of two streets. We pull down to see a few men in duster trench coats, brief cases, and black top hats. It’s raining softly. All men speak with heavy English accents. PAN IN MAN #1 (to Man #2) How’s it going, my good man? MAN #2 Not bad, you? MAN #1 Not bad either. I’ve been working on a court case for a few weeks now. MAN #3 How’s that going? MAN #1 Not good I’m afraid. We’ve been trying to catch a killer who seems to elude us every time we get a lead. MAN #2 You don’t say? MAN #1 Yeah, a man who calls himself “Jack”… “Jack the Ripper”. MAN #2 Oh, I’ve heard of him. The Evening Post said he’s killed five young woman and removed some internal parts. Man #3 is silent. MAN #1 Yes indeed, he killed each victim in a different alley. MAN #2 That’s horrific. MAN #1 It sure is. MAN #3 It depends on how you look at it. MAN #2 What do you mean? MAN #3 What I mean is you really need to know what the assailant is thinking, and what’s crossing his or her mind before you can make that judgment. MAN #2 I suppose you could be right. MAN #3 What are you talking about? I am right! MAN #2 Whatever you say. (beat) Well, I suppose I’ll talk to you all some other time. Goodnight. He leaves walking down the street. MAN #1 You bring up some interesting points, are you a lawyer? MAN #3 No, I… He mutters something the other man can’t understand. MAN #1 You what? MAN #3 I kill them! Man #3 leaps for Man #1 and grabs his neck. CUT TO INT. COFFEE HOUSE – NOON The year is 2001 A.D. There are 3 teenage guys sitting at a table with coffee mugs. They are TUCKER, MATT, and BRANDON.
