So to put it easier terms, there is one leader who answers to no one, and the people do not get squat for input. Cardinal Richelieu, Louis XIII’s chief minister from 1624 to 1642, was a strong believer in the power of the crown. He got rid of the rights of the Huguenots, political and military rights, but left them with the same religious rights.
