The role of Khalsa has definitely evolved and developed since its creation by the tenth Guru Gobind Singh.
But to be able to fully understand the focus question, an understanding of Khalsa must first be obtained. When I began the research component, I had a vague knowledge of the “true Sikhs”, but as my researched continued I found a whole new ‘platform’ within the Sikh religion, which is Khalsa. The Khalsa are also referred to as pure Sikh’s and the strict ones.
Khalsa literally means “The Pure” and that’s how they are regarded as, a higher state over Sikhism that has developed over hundreds of years. Not to mislead one though, the Khalsa is not a different religion to Sikhism. ... Khalsa is a person that is totally dedicated to Sikhism. ...
This Khalsa state can be compared to the Orthodox religions of Christianity and Judaism. However to reach this higher platform of Sikhism one must conform to the implementations of the tenth Guru Gobind Sing to become a Khalsa. To become a Khalsa rituals have to be performed, to be initiated as a Khalsa. ... These rituals affect the role of Khalsa, predominantly in the earlier years of Khalsa inception.
