I Have a Dream Speech Analysis

Martin Luther King Jr. once stood up in front of a crowd of African Americans, (along with many whites), proclaiming their rights and liberties, this speech is now know as “I Have a Dream.” He argued that after one hundred years the Negro is still not equal and is “crippled by the manacles of segregation.” Martin Luther tells the people that America has fallen short of fulfilling its promise of equality and in a sense wrote them a “bad check.” King used repetition to get his points across to the people. He speaks of urgency and how the people need to act now and repeats the phrase, “Now is the time.” King speaks of revolting, but not in the sense of violence, but with the soul and not to distrust all white people, because their destiny is also inner twined with theirs.
