Already lawsuits to force this recognition of gay marriages have been filed in Vermont, Massachusetts and New Jersey. If these states recognize this union as a legal marriage then all states, under the “full faith and credit clause” found in the constitution, are required to recognize the legality of same sex marriage whether or not people of the states favor such action.
