Keep the Smoking Ban
Throughout the United States, smoking bans are being introduced and administered in many cities. Dallas became one of the most recent of these American cities to limit smoking in public places. ... (ALA 1)
The smoking ordinance, which was passed in late January 2003 by a 10-3 vote in city council, went into effect on March 1 throughout the metroplex, and it should stay this way. Although smoking is still allowed in bars that derive 75 percent or more of their income from alcohol sales, a non-smoking area must still be provided. ... Usually when people dine at restaurants, offering non-smoking areas there is very little difference between the two because the drift still happens and they can still smell it. ... The innocent people being affected by the second hand smoke made a choice not to start smoking yet their health is in near as much, if not as much jeopardy as those whose who did make that possibly fatal decision. ... ” Smoking is a choice made by many, and they also have the option to smoke in the designated areas, this now is nowhere closer than 15 feet of an establishment that is under this law.
