The niche of these water organisms Water Plants- All water plants have different and unique appearances, but they usually do the same thing. They need oxygen, carbon, hydrogen and nutrients such as magnesium to survive. The niche of water plants is to live in water ecosystems be food for the herbivores (in this mini-ecosystem it has to be there as food for the fish) and collect new energy into community from the available sunlight (this process is called photosynthesis). Water plants have thin leaves that help prevent the thickness in the water. They also have wide air channels called aerenchyma, which let gases move freely throughout the plants. Water plants have adaptations to its environment such as flexible structure so they can stand up to the water currents and rocks. For lilies, they have waxy leaves to prevent the water pressure from sinking it down.
