In my opinion, Dances With Wolves showed how the Indians lived and how the Indians’ way of life broke the myth that everyone believed that the Indians were big nothings. However, some scenes in the film made me cringe, such as the parts with blood and driving weapons into a guy’s chest. Watching John handle the wolf shows he is developing respect towards nature even though he has not become harmonious with nature. I believed that when John supported the Indians against the Union army, he committed treason. The Union army in the beginning is an ironic situation, for example the captain does not get abandoned for leaving the fort, yet he gets a promotion.
