ELENA ACOSTA SEPTEMBER 24, 2003 MUSIC 110 PROF. MARINO My favorite artist in the music industry today is Ashanti. Ashanti Douglas, born in 1980, was in raised in Glen Cove, Long Island. Her parents who both had experience in entertainment, supported her fully in her 8 ½ year struggle. She recently came onto the music scene in 2001, when producer Irv Gotti signed her to his Murder Inc. label. In my opinion Ashanti is the best new female solo artist in the industry. She is a very real and down to earth person, which she expresses through her music. In her songs she mostly talks of relationships and the motions you go through with falling in love. When I listen to her music it is so relaxing, I feel as if she knew exactly how I felt when she wrote the song. I can relate to each and every song that is on her album, either I’ve been through a similar experience already or I’m going through one now. Her songs help me to relieve my stress or any withheld emotions that I have, since most of the time I hold my feelings inside.
