May it please your Lordship, I implore your majesty that the witch trial be closed. The Lord knows that we are all innocent persons, but with the enmity of our accusers, the juries and judges have already condemned us before our trials. Only the Lord sees the trickeries and lies of my accusers. But the Court¡¦s enormous rage against the devil keeps themselves blind from the shedding of our innocent blood. I humbly beg of you to take this letter into your prudent and pious considerations, and to end the witch trials. I beg your majesty not for my own life, I know my time is over and I must die but may no more innocent blood be shed after mine, for I know we are all innocent people. The five persons who have lately admitted themselves to be witches and wizards, who also accused some of the others of being along with them at a sacrament, would not confess till the court tied their necks and heels, till the blood was ready to come out their noses.
