English Flourished -established Charles Town SC 1670 English & Native American relations -by 1680, the Charles Town English were ready to rise up against Spanish control in the region. *hostile tribes such as Westos, Cherokee and Creek Indians were used against the Spanish by the English. -Spanish withdrew to Santa Maria on Amelia Island. Native Americans choosing sides -Indians who had excepted catholocism chose to reside in and around the Spanish at St. Augustine. -Many Indians, such as the yamassee, took sides with the English becaue of the trading opportunities with the Brits.
