Williams syndrome is a rare disorder and it is caused by an abnormality in the chromosomes. This disorder shows a wide variation in ability from person to person. An early diagnosis of Williams syndrome will mean a better understanding of the problems that could arise, this leads to a much happier life for both the child and the parents. Williams syndrome was named after Dr J.C.P Williams. He first defined the syndrome when he noticed that many children entering his hospital with cardiovascular problems shared other traits in common, particularly facial features and an unusually friendly and social behavior.
