...
Chinese Immigration
By Josh Lallow
America has always been a land of opportunity. ... One of the largest groups
of people to immigrate to the United States are the Chinese. ... Many poor young
Chinese men came here to find good jobs, hoping they could make
enough money to send back home to their poor families or go back home
wealthy. ...
Immigration was not easy for Chinese coming into the country. ... In 1964 Immigration and Nationality Act
took down the last barriers to Chinese immigration. Now, many Chinese
have very important jobs as Doctors, politicians and Executives in
Corporations. Many more well educated Chinese come to America to get
jobs in high-tech and engineering fields. For other Chinese, America
represents the hope of freedom from prejudices.
