Giant Pandas
Several species of animals are feeling the pressure of human expansion. ...
Loggers in China have destroyed much of the pandas’ habitat. In the article, “Giant Pandas”, it estimates that, “today, around 1,000 giant pandas survive on Earth” (2). ... There are still many acres of natural panda habitat left, but not enough to sustain all of the pandas in the wild. Many people are trying to protect the panda, China has created wildlife reserves for the remaining pandas to have space to live, eat, and move around without human interference (Giant 2). These reservations have helped keep pandas from becoming extinct, but have posed other threats, such as interbreeding, to the pandas. The gaps between reservations are so great that pandas have a hard time migrating from reserve to reserve. ... Pandas lose their homes the more people build cities and farms and use up their natural resources (Giant 2). Cutting down of the Pandas habitat has, also, led to other problems.
In addition to the destroying of the panda’s habitat, the pandas face other problems. According to an article titled “Giant Pandas”, “Bamboo is the most important plant in the giant pandas life” (1). ... The odd thing, however, is the entire one species of bamboo will bloom and die at the same time, causing the pandas difficulty when trying to find food (Giant 2).
