In reading the book The Vine and the Branches, I felt a conformation of this concept of “family” and its importance in the Church yesterday, today and tomorrow. ... Mentoring others was critical to growing the branches from the vine. ... The branches extended and multiplied through this process of raising up others. ... All of a sudden the vine had sprouted so many branches that an arbor had to be erected, one designed to provide for the offshoots. ... Our history observed occasions where branches were broken off due to differences in doctrine and an unwillingness to be held accountable, as seen in Chapter 7 (The Separated Branches of the Vine). ... I know that the Holy Spirit will continue to expand the pages of history of the branches that have sprouted forth from the vine that was planted by Sister Aimee Semple McPherson. A vine that is planted firmly in the vineyard of the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ.
