Rock And Roll History The story of the birth of rock ‘n’ roll has a mythical quality to it. It speaks of racial barriers bridged through the fusion of Afro-American musical styles with white popular music. Rock and Roll, characterized by its pulsating drums, repetitive chord progressions, stepped up tempos, and loud guitars, provided. American teens of the 1950's the perfect excuse to dance crazy new dances, and wear wild new hairstyles. Thought only a fad, Rock and Roll continued on to become one of the worlds most popular and recognizable music forms. The nearest definition suggests a kind of music that represents and speaks for the teenage society. This music is characterized by the use of heavy beats of different musical influences and complex collaborations of instruments that come together to create an experience. Rock and Roll was started as more of an underground protest and eventually became commercial. Consisting of novelty songs and powerful ballads of different lyrics rock has grown and developed over the years. And talking about rock history it is crucial because almost all the musical rock groups today have been influenced by some form of rock in the past. In this essay I am going to identify rock music and look at the different eras of rock music and its influences. Rock, originally Rock and Roll, began in the mid-50’s as a result of underground protest music and also was a result of the dance craze revolution coming to a stop. The music reflected more than just happy love songs. The music and lyrics talked about cultures, politics, trends, and tastes for society. The nation began changing tastes and for the most part the commercial companies would later look at that and capitalize on the new style of music. Rock began a style of teenagers that were interracial and international. The young people, who the majority listened to rock, provided common language, dress codes, for black and white teens. It appealed to all types of people in many different classes. There are many different styles of rock music, but in the start rock music started from the influences of other types of music. There were many different influences such as rhythm and blues, gospel, jazz, and bluegrass. There was an unselfconscious hybrid of blues and country that became rock and roll.
