Music 220 Concert Report Approximately how many performers are involved? There were approximately thirty performers at the Steel Band Concert that I attended. What was your first impression of the performers when they walked on-stage: The impression that I got from the performers walking out on-stage was very good. The reason behind this was because that they all came out very exited to play their instruments for the audience. The band came out wearing outfits in all different colors. This was very exciting because it setup the fun mood. Just the way they came out made you feel like you were in a fun atmosphere and no matter what happen at the show, it is going to be fun. Describe the first piece performed (or any movement of the piece) Title: Please Don’t Leave Me This Way Composer: Not given The opening piece was very interesting. The sound of the different steel pans caught my ear. They used a lot of dynamics in this selection. They were constantly using crescendos. The tempo was very upbeat and colorful during the first selection. The sounds that the pans made seemed to ring out like words to the music. The lead pan always played the melody causing it to seem like there were word being sung. The music was polyphonic. It was easily detectible due to all the different parts being played.
