DNA EXTRACTION EXPERIMENT dupa head, Block A, October 16th Purpose: To extract DNA from onion cells Background: DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic acid, DNA is the nucleic acid that stores and transmits the genetic information from one generation of an organism to the next. The two strands of DNA are held together by hydrogen bonds. Because of the total number of hydrogen bonds that each can form with the other, adenine can pair only with thymine and cytosine can pair only with guanine. DNA is described to have a shape as a double helix, or a twisted ladder.
