They have no mercy as long as they get Kino’s pearl. ... Himself because Kino was very sorry that he didn’t listen to his wife that the pearl has evil emanations. ... The suspense started when Kino got the pearl. I had many hypotheses on what will happen next like the people will attempt to steal the pearl and that it will just bring Kino unhappiness, etc. ...
