Native American Culture
Do we need to support the Native American culture, or just let it go?
After reading Native literature and seeing how kindhearted the Native people are, listening to some experiences from the native point of view, and reading the native written stories; it gives you some real understanding of how some or most Native Americans feel and are treated in today’s world. Today some of the Native Americans don’t speak about their Indian heritage, because it’s believed to be kind of taboo. If the Native American arts and customs are not passed down to the next generation, they will soon be lost. ... We can see that the old culture of totems and potlatch is being replaced by a new culture of prefab housing and alcoholism. The young generation is disenchanted and separated from its heritage, but still live close to the traditional Native ways. Indeed, they are losing their culture.
