A Night in Ignite
As a French student, coming to the United States is in itself already a cross-cultural experience. ...
Walking around the FGCU campus, I was given this colorful paper: Ignite, come Join Us. I have heard about Ignite before and I decided to join them for one evening. Ignite is abi-weekly evening organized by Quest, a religious student organization. ... The Quest group has no religious denomination and this is a reason why you can meet people from every religion in Ignite. ...
A few minutes before going to Ignite, I have to admit that I felt stressed and worried about how people would accept my presence here, since I have never been much involved in any religious community. ... As soon as I entered the Student Union building, I could hear this loud pop music coming from the Ballroom, the place where the Ignite was supposed to happen. ... The general ambiance looked like a European club on a Saturday night (except there was no alcohol there of course! ... He started talking about the theme of the night: Developing a passion for God. ...
Obviously, this experience was so rewarding for me that I will certainly come back to Ignite another time to explore more about this culture I want to know about. Since I am here in the United States, every day is for me a new opportunity to know more about this culture which is not my native one, and this experience in Ignite is the perfect example that you can get rid of your old mindset just by experiencing.
