Casablanca is probably one of the most known movies of all time; and to some, it is the best of the best. However, if the same movie were to come out today, would it receive such rave reviews? ... While movies today, such as Pearl Harbour, and Titanic, do deal with important events in our history; the events are not occurring at the present time, and therefore only tend to interest people who are interested in the event, or people who are interested in the actors/actresses in the movie. Scenes, for example the final scene in the movie Casablanca, would not be as successful today because back in 1942 – when the movie came out – the scene would have brought an overwhelming sense of patriotism in the general population. People today are unfortunately not as patriotic as they were back in the day. ... This is due to the fact that the only thing she wanted to do was to stay with Rick, whether they remained in Casablanca or left, didn’t really make too much of a difference to her.
