... It is based on recent scientific evidence that the way a child learns to read has a lot to do with how it is taught and when. Learning how to read can be enhanced with interesting stories and activities instead of going through vocabulary words, pronunciation, and basically boring the child. Not only will children be taught how to learn to read in a more interesting manner, but also will parents, grandparents, and teachers be taught how to make the teaching experience more interesting.
One part of the early childhood initiative is the Reach Out and Read program. Pediatricians are now telling parents to read books aloud to their children and providing them with story books for very young children in the waiting room.
